Andrea + Kelsey founded Totemica in spring 2023 after six years of dreaming about a consulting company specializing in the challenges that come along with existing buildings. As Building Code specialists with backgrounds in environmental engineering, they are passionate about existing building reuse and the preservation of community and culturally significant buildings. With experience in both the regulatory and design worlds, Andrea + Kelsey have not only encountered diverse challenges, but also understand the complexities that affect both sides. With this common understanding, the entire process typically goes smoother for all parties involved.

Building Code Services
We love to spend our days solving the riddle of the rule book. The Code is our life - we live, breathe, and eat it. We also love to hunt for the solutions, so you don't have to.
Building Permit Support
The permitting process can be overwhelming. But don't worry, we got you! We are here with you every step of the way, and will de-mystify what the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) needs and from whom. AND, we'll have a heck of a lot of fun along the way.
Placemaking Services
We don't just see how buildings can be better, but also the urban environment around them. We are passionate about creating enchanting and interactive public spaces that foster conversation, a feeling of belonging, and connection to place.
